The most frequently asked question is "are all your charms/troll treasure beads/findings solid sterling silver?"
Jewellery Enchantments sell only sterling silver items. That is items made of 92.5% (minimum) of pure silver and 7.5% (maximum) of copper.
We legally can not state that our items are "solid sterling silver" because, some of our charms and all of our troll treasure beads have a hole through the centre of them by design. Whilst these items are made of 92.5% silver, these items do not have a solid core and therefore, can not be legally described as "Solid Sterling Silver".
Jewellery Enchantments only sell sterling silver. "Sterling silver" is the legal definition to describe an item that contains a minimum of 92.5% silver.
Do your products contain Nickel? No, our sterling silver does not contain nickel, only silver and copper.
Jewellery Enchantments do sell a few beautiful sterling silver charms that are then highlighted with 9ct gold plating and many coated with glass fired enamel. These are the only forms of 'plating' that will ever be found on our web site! We do not sell silver plated, plated silver or silver coated items.

Are all your charms hallmarked? The answer to this question is no, this is because many of our charms are under 7.78 grams in weight and a hallmark is not required. As required by law, all our charms over 7.78 grams in weight are fully hallmarked. Please click here for further info on hallmarks.
Are all your charms stamped with "925"? The stamp "925" is not a hallmark, it is a millesimal mark. A hallmark is a mark applied by an Assay office and whilst it does contain a millesimal mark, a millesimal mark alone can not legally be termed as a hallmark. English made charms do not necessarily have a 925 mark, as this mark has absolutely no legal standing and does not provide legal proof of content within the UK and Europe. The majority of all our other charms do have a 925 stamp and they also have a makers mark.
Confusion; There is a lot of confusion in regards to the 925 mark and a hallmark. There are a lot of web sites, some affiliated to an officially recognised UK jewellery association, that are adding to this confusion. "All our charms are hallmarked with a 925 stamp".
A 925 mark alone is NOT a hallmark! A 925 stamp alone has no legal status as a declaration that an item is sterling silver. It is a well known fact that a 925 mark can be found on pieces that are sterling silver plated, on top of some undetermined metal, generally imported from Asia!
Only European countries, Australia, the UK and the USA have any form of legally based standard for sterling silver.
UK/Europe - it is illegal to sell an item described as "sterling silver" if it is not sterling silver. The 925 stamp alone has no legal standing, therefore, it is not generally used on items manufactured within the UK and/or Europe. Items over 7.78 grams in weight, must be fully hallmarked. Items under 7.4 grams do not require any mark, but the law states the items must be of at least 92.5% silver. Reputable companies would not sell an item as sterling silver, if it was not. The legal penalties for doing so are very high.
A hallmark is a European and UK recognised standard that consists of a minimum of three marks. One of these marks will be 925, the other mark the symbol for the Assay Office that tested and marked the sterling silver and the third is a makers mark.
The USA - the 925 stamp MUST be accompanied by the makers mark. Only where there is a makers mark to accompany the 925 stamp (or the makers mark alone), can you be assured that the item will be sterling silver. These companies have their marks registered in the USA and they are bound by laws that ensure the products these companies manufacturer are sterling silver. These are known as "Convention Hallmarks". Not to be confused with a UK/European Assay issued Hallmark.
Australia have a system very similar to that of the USA and a 925 mark must be accompanies by a makers mark.
