The Landline Telephone Number Issue:

We have asked customers, when creating an account, to provide a landline telephone number. We have done so for the following reasons:

1)     There are a set of mobile telephone numbers which are costing over £1 a minute to call and there is no means by which the ‘premium mobile numbers’ can be determined, as each service provider has their own set of numbers. Therefore, we will not call mobile telephone numbers.

2)     Whilst we have chosen not to use a premium rate number for customers, we as equally ask customers to respect that we will not return calls to premium rate numbers and this includes mobile telephone numbers.

Why should we need a landline number?

1)     We will only EVER call a home number where we have an order query that a) has not received a response via e-mail or b) is too complicated to detail in an e-mail.

2)     When contact via e-mail has failed and an order placed several days ago can still not be dispatched, rather than delay the order any further, a call to a landline number will be made. Without this call, orders are delayed.

What we will not do:

1)     We DO NOT state our business name when telephoning a work place and we will NOT discuss an order with anyone other than the account holder, this being in consideration for the fact that many orders are gifts and we do not need to spoil surprises.

2)     We WILL NEVER pass ANY customer details on to ANYONE! We are very aware of the importance of personal details that only the business owner has access to customer’s personal information. NOONE in our office can access this information other than the business owner and this will not change. You will only ever receive a call from the business owner, and only where it is necessary.

And if you still do not want to provide a landline number………

1)     We completely understand that ‘trust’ takes time and we accept that customers with ex-directory numbers may still not wish to provide a landline number. However, the number slot on the customer form will accept 0000000, there is absolutely no need to enter profanities within this number slot and we will delete any account where the customers have chosen to place a profound message.

We have no need to be dealing with customers with such attitude problems because at the end of the day, we have only requested a landline number to resolve order queries and 90% of the order queries result from the fact that, where product titles read ‘click here, terms apply’ the customer has not clicked and read the full product information. This results in shopping carts that contain goods that we either can not supply, or goods that are so obviously wrong for their intended purpose.
