Dichroic ~ Masterpieces of Art in Glass

Dichroic; to be of more than one colour when viewed from a different angle or transmitted to reflect light.Originally used as an itenterference filter in scientific measuring within the space industry.  

Dichroic Glass consists of thin layers of metallic oxides, such as titanium, silicon and magnesium which are deposited upon the surface of glass  in a high temperature, vaccum furnace. This Dichoric Glass is then used to create jewellery cabachons. 

All our pieces are created by Gloria Minshull, a Sussex based warm glass artist who specialises in fused glass art. Each hand made piece is layered and fused numerous times to acheive the unique colour, shape and designs of our pieces. Finely finished with a hand polished clear glass layer to provide added depth and protection to the Dichroic Glass layers beneath. Each piece of glass is then handset to form beautiful piece of unique jewellery by Jewellery Enchantments.

Unfortuantely, photographs limit the presentation of Dichroic Glass pieces.  Each piece shows the colours within any given piece, but does not provide a depth view, seen by the naked eye. The arrows below denote where each colour forms a completely different layer within each piece. This piece has a solid black base, the silver 'lepoard' forms the next layer, followed by the pink layer, the 'peacock' layer and then the green layer. Depending from where the piece is viewed, depends on the predominant colour of the piece, each angle revealing a different colour, at a different level within the piece, all seen against a black backround. Each piece is completely unique and simply beautiful . Please try and envisage the depth as you view the photographs. Dichroic Jewellery pieces are often very large, we have sought to offer a range of pieces that are smaller and finer in detail and colour. Each piece is supplied with a 2mm round smooth black leather and sterling silver ended 'chain', in a length of your choice, but just as equally pieces may also be worn upon a Prince Of Wales sterling silver chain. For those customer who are in need of no fiddly clasps, all pieces fitted with a rolled top bail may also be worn on our 3.5mm Silk Twisted Black necklaces.

For those choosing the 2mm Leather necklace, please state your prefered length in the message box at check-out. We hand make the necklaces to the desired length, so 1/2" are permitted too. For those wanting a 3.5mm Silk Twist Necklace, please simply request at check-out and we will exchange before dispatch. For those preferring a Prince Of Wales Chain, please add the preferred length to your shopping cart. All Dichroic Glass pieces purchased with a Prince Of Wales chain will be supplied in a velvet and satin lined presentation box and £1.50 will be refunded as we process your order (this being the difference in costs between the Leather necklace and a Sterling Silver one).
